Esperienza scientifica

Autore di oltre 350 pubblicazioni su riviste internazionali citate in letteratura oltre 8500 volte, per un IF totale superiore a 1800 e un h-index pari a 46 (Google Scholar). Autore di oltre 20 review articles ad invito e autore anche di 5 testi di Microbiologia e Virologia con finalità didattiche. Titolare di 11 brevetti (di cui oltre la metà concessi in Europa e negli Stati Uniti) principalmente potenziali farmaci biologici antivirali . Titolare, in prima persona e con gli allievi, di numerosi fondi di ricerca di istituzioni pubbliche e private, nazionali ed internazionali (MIUR, FIRB, Ministero della Sanità, ISS-AIDS, Comunità Europea, CNR, ANRS, EEC Foundation, oltre a GSK, MERCK, SANOFI-Pasteur). Valutatore di progetti di ricerca per UE, MIUR, CNR, Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Regione Toscana, Regione Veneto, Welcome Trust.
