Ph.D. Projects

The Cognitive Neuroscience laboratory offers Ph.D. projects in two main areas:

Functional imaging studies of language processes
Stefano F. Cappa, Andrea Moro, Daniela Perani, Marco Tettamanti, Jubin Abutalebi, Pasquale della Rosa

The student is involved in all phases of the development of a functional imaging study of language processes, strating from paradigm development and preparation, to data acquisition and data analysis. The main emphasis is on syntactic and lexical-semantic processing. Usually the main study is combined with supplementary investigations of the same topic by means of neuropsychological studies in patients and/or neurophysiological approaches.

Functional imaging of reasoning and decision processes
Stefano F. Cappa, Matteo Motterlini, Daniela Perani, Nicola Canessa

The student is involved in all phases of the development of a functional imaging study of reasoning and decision processes, strating from paradigm development and preparation, to data acquisition and data analysis. The main emphasis is on economic and strategic decision making and the role of emotions in decisional processes. A multimodal approach, including addiitonal studies based on other imaging modalities, patient investigations or modelling is strongly encouraged.
