Biography

Prof. Matteo Trimarchi is associate professor at San Raffaele University in Milan and at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.

He obtained his medical degree from the University of Pavia with high honours in 1996, and specialized in Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Brescia with high honours in 2001. He has carried out training at various institutions in Italy and abroad (including S. Thomas Hospital and Guy’s Hospital in London, the Department of Anatomy at Harvard University in Boston, the Department of Otolaryngology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital at the University College in London).

Since 2002, he has carried out 3960 head and neck interventions. He is actively involved in several areas of research, and has a particular interest in pathologies and endoscopic surgery of the nose and paranasal sinus, and the study of tumours and granulomatous lesions of the head and neck. Of special interest are the recent results from a study on midline destructive lesions from cocaine abuse.

He has authored 87 publications in national and international journals and 2 book chapters, and participated in creation of a data storage system for patient data and images for neoplasms of the sinonasal tract (NSNT ver 1.0).

He is a member of the American Rhinology Society (ARS) since 2002, Società di Otorinolaringoiatria Italiana (SIO) since 2007, European Rhinology Society since 2009 and honorary member of the Spanish Otorhinolaryngologic Society since 2011.
