Admission to the International MD Program
The Call for Admission to the International Medical Doctor Program (single-cycle Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery in English) for the academic year 2024-2025 is published in the boxes below.
Admission to the International MD Program is based on selection through the UniSR admission test, which is mandatory for all candidates wishing to access the Course. Other exams or scores cannot substitute the UniSR admission test as it is the only means of selection.
Every year there is a limited number of places for the Course: a quota for EU candidates and another one for non-EU candidates.
The admission test is organized accordingly for each quota and is regulated by a specific Call for Admission (‘Bando di concorso’).
- Places available:
86 for EU citizens and citizens with EU equal status;
64 for NON-EU citizens residing abroad. - Registration period (candidates may register for both periods and take the test in all the four sessions scheduled):
- First period: from March 27, 2023 at noon to May 18, 2023 at noon (Italian time);
- Second period: from September 4, 2023 at noon to February 15, 2024 at noon (Italian time.)
- Test sessions:
- First period: May and July, 2023
- Second period: February and March, 2024.

- Test method: home-based.
- Registration fee: € 200 for each of the two periods.
- Ranking list: available in March 2024. It will be drawn up on the basis of the best score obtained by the candidate among all the tests taken.
- Enrolment: first year AY 2024/2025.
- Who can participate:
- First period: students attending in the school year 2022/2023 their second to last or last year of school or students having already been awarded their final high school qualification.
- Second period: students attending in the school year 2023/2024 their last year of school or students having already been awarded their final high school qualification.
Candidates having a non-Italian high school leaving certificate or attending their second to last or last year of an international/non-Italian high school are required to send a copy of their final Diploma/Certificate or a copy of their most recent transcripts at ammissioni@unisr.it before registering for the admission test.
The Admissions Office will carry out a preliminary check of the school documents.

Call for Admission to the International Medical Doctor Program reserved for EU candidates – AY 2024/2025
This call is reserved for European candidates only.
The EU quota includes European citizens, non-European citizens residing in Italy, non-European citizens with EU equal status and citizens from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of San Marino and the Holy See State of Vatican City.
UK citizens residing outside Italy are considered "NON-EU citizens residing abroad", unless otherwise noted in the future by the Italian Ministry of University and Research or the Italian Ministry of Interior.
Test sessions:
- First period: May 27, 2023 and July 27, 2023;
- Second period: February 24, 2024 and March 23, 2024.
NB: candidates may register for both periods and take the test in all the four sessions scheduled.
The ranking list will be drawn up on the basis of the best score obtained by the candidate among all the tests taken and it will grant the possibility to enrol in the first year of the a.y. 2024/2025.
Detailed information on academic requirements for accessing university courses in Italy for students who have been or will be awarded a non-Italian secondary school qualification can be found in the documents published on the DEDICATED PAGE of our website.
Important to note: After the admission test and in order to enrol in the Course, admitted candidates must submit an official English language certification corresponding to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Those who have attended at least the last two years of high school or have completed a minimum of two years of university entirely in English are exempted from submitting the above-mentioned English language certification.
The English language certification is NOT required to take the admission test, but it is a requirement to enrol if admitted.

Call for Admission International MD Program EU reserved AY 2024.2025 DR 8113_Bando di Concorso per l'ammissione al CdLM in Medicina e Chirurgia in lingua inglese Cittadini EUCall for Admission to the International Medical Doctor Program reserved for non-EU candidates – AY 2024/2025
This Call is reserved for non-European candidates residing abroad only.
This quota does NOT include non-EU citizens who already reside in Italy or non-EU citizens with dual citizenship one of which is Italian or European. It also does NOT include citizens from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of San Marino and the Holy See State of Vatican City. (Ministerial Prot. N° 7802 of March 24, 2015). The aforementioned candidates must participate in the EU competition.
Test sessions:
- First period: May 27, 2023 and July 26, 2023;
- Second period: February 23, 2024 and March 22, 2024.
NB: candidates may register for both periods and take the test in all the four sessions scheduled.
The ranking list will be drawn up on the basis of the best score obtained by the candidate among all the tests taken and it will give the possibility to enrol in the first year of the academic year 2024/2025.

Call for Admission International MD Program NON EU reserved AY 2024.2025 DR 8114_Bando di Concorso per l'ammissione al CdLM in Medicina e Chirurgia in lingua inglese - riservato Cittadini NON EU- It is not necessary to have already been awarded a high school qualification to take the admission test. However, having a high school qualification is mandatory to enrol in the Degree Course.
- The admission competition and the relevant ranking list are linked to the academic year 2024-2025. Therefore, it is not possible to consider the score obtained in the test as valid for the following academic year under any circumstances.
- It is possible to participate in the competition even if you are already enrolled in a Degree Course.
- Those who wish to register for more than one admission test have to register for one test at a time. After completing the first registration, it is necessary to repeat the online procedure and the payment for the second Degree Course of interest.
- In order to enrol, admitted candidates must submit an official English language certification corresponding to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Those who have attended at least the last two years of high school or have completed a minimum of two years of university entirely in English are exempted from submitting the above-mentioned English language certification.
Candidates without the necessary certification will not be allowed to complete enrolment and will lose their assigned place in the Course.
The admission test consists of a multiple-choice questionnaire. The test is entirely in English and consists of 60 questions divided as follows:
- 36 questions on logic, problem-solving and reading comprehension
- 24 questions on scientific subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics)
Candidates have 80 minutes to complete the test.
The admissions test questions are managed by a third party and randomly extracted from a database of questions that are property of Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
The scores are calculated as follows:
- 1 point for each correct answer
- -0.25 points for each incorrect answer
- 0 points for each non answered question
