He was awarded his medical degree from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, where he also completed his residency training in Urology.

He gained his Ph.D. in Clinical and Experimental Biotechnology in Urology in 2016. At present, Prof. Briganti’s main research interests are in the field preclinical and clinical prostate cancer. He is the author of more than 1100 scientific works published in international peer-reviewed journals (H-Index is 83 – November 2021) and he is a reviewer of numerous scientific journals in the field of urology and oncology.

Prof. Briganti is member of several international scientific societies including the European Association of Urology (EAU) and the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons (AAGUS). He is also a member of the EAU Scientific Committee.

Since 2018, Prof. Briganti is the Editor-in-Chief of European Urology Oncology, one of the official Journals of the European Association of Urology, fully devoted to the research of genitourinary cancers. He has contributed to the development of several multi-institutional data-bases for prostate cancer staging and outcomes which have been used for improving currently available prediction models.

Through his career, Prof. Briganti has been the recipient of highly prestigious grants to fund multiple research projects. Of note, he won the Giovani Ricercatori (Young Researcher’s) award from the Italian Ministry of Health in 2009 for a project aimed at identifying the genetic profile of men at risk of developing prostate cancer. In 2010, he was awarded a grant from the European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM) to develop a project to study the recovery of sexual function following radical prostatectomy. In 2018, Prof. Briganti was awarded a grant from the Italian Ministry of Health with a project titled “Development of a Novel Signature Integrating Clinical, Imaging And Epigenetic Information to Tailor Pelvic Nodal Treatment in Prostate Cancer”.

In recognition of his academic career, in 2016 Prof. Briganti received the Matula Award, assigned yearly by the European Association of Urology (EAU) to the most promising academic urologist younger than 40 years of age.
