Dean of Medicine and Surgery , Vita Salute San Raffaele

MD, Psichiatrist, is  Professor Of Psychiatry  at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery , Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. He graduated  with Summa cum Laude at the University of Milan Medical School in 1987 and specialized in Psychiatry  with Summa cum Laude at the University of Milan Medical School in 1991 . His whole clinical, research and teaching career was developed  at  San Raffaele Universitary Scientific Institute Psychiatry Department and Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.

His present clinical position is Director of the General Psychiatry acute and rehabilitation inpatient units and of the Psychotic Disorders Disease Unit at the San Raffaele Universitary Scientific Institute in San Raffaele Turro Hospital.

Since 2001 he teached in the faculties of Medicine and Surgery and Psychology, at Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, with temporary positions of assistant professor in the Degree Courses of Psychological Sciences, Psychology and Medicine, in the Schools of Specialization of Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology   and in the post-graduate Master in Clinical Psychopharmacology.

He is Director of the Master in Clinical Psychopharmacology at Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan and formerly was its clinical coordinator,  since 2005 and Member of its Founding Commission since 2002.

He is author or co-author of more than 100 pubblications on international and national journals  and books on topics of clinical psychiatry, neurobiology, clinical neuropsychology, neuropsychological rehabilitation, neuropsychiatry, clinical psychopharmacology, psychotropic drugs surveillance and pharmacokinetics. The main area of publication is that of schizophrenia and psychotic disorders and, in particular, more recently, that of the development of strategies for neurocognitive rehabilitation and of genetic control of cognitive performances in schizophrenia.

He organized several National and International meetings on topics of psychiatry and psychopharmacology. Since  2008  he is organizer and chairman of the ‘Cognition in schizophrenia satellite meeting’ of the biennial world congress of the Schizophrenia International Research Society.

He is member of the Editorial Board of the international journal ‘Schizophrenia Research: Cognition’ (Elsevier), and he was member of the Scientific Committee of Revision for the Italian edition of the DSM-V

He is member of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP)  and ‘Fellow ’ for the same scientific society for the ‘ECNP certificate initiative’.
