Biography

Giorgio Gandaglia is an Associate Professor of Urology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan and a Senior Consultant at the Department of Urology of the San Raffaele Hospital. 

Having graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery and specialized with honors in Urology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, he completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Cancer Prognostics and Health Outcomes Unit of the University of Montreal (Canada) in 2013 and a Robotic Surgery Fellowship at the OLV Robotic Surgery Institute in Aalst (Belgium) in 2015. 

He is actively involved in leading international scientific societies: he is a member of the EAU Prostate Cancer Guidelines Panel and a Board Member of the EAU Section of Uro-Oncology (ESOU). He also serves as Assistant Editor for the journal European Urology. From 2019 to 2024, he led the Prostate Cancer Group of the Young Academic Urologists (YAU) and he currently participates in the EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) as an Associate Member. 

His scientific activity includes approximately 680 PubMed-indexed publications with an H-index of 82 (Google Scholar). He is the Principal Investigator of several projects funded through competitive grants, including two from the Italian Ministry of Health (Giovani Ricercatori program) and one from AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research) dedicated to the integration of molecular biology and advanced imaging in prostate cancer. 

He has received numerous prestigious awards, including: 

  • Reviewer of the Year – European Urology (2015) 
  • ESUI Vision Award (2019) 
  • EAU Best Paper in Urological Literature Award – Clinical Research (2019) 
  • SIU Matula Italian Award (2023) 
  • EAU Crystal Matula Award (2024), awarded to the most promising European urologist under the age of 40.
