Biography
Professor Stefania Guida is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan and practices clinically at the Clinical Dermatology Unit of IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, directed by Professor Franco Rongioletti. She is a board-certified dermatologist and holds a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine.
She has developed extensive expertise in advanced non-invasive diagnostic techniques used in dermatology, including digital dermoscopy, videodermoscopy, and reflectance confocal microscopy, thanks to her training and research activities at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, an internationally recognized center of excellence in this field. Her clinical and research interests focus on the early diagnosis of skin cancer, dermato-oncology, skin imaging, photoaging, and aesthetic dermatology.
She is also involved in the management of inflammatory skin diseases and innovative advanced systemic therapies, with particular interest in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, alopecia areata, and vitiligo. She provides specialized care for patients eligible for and receiving biologic therapies and small molecules and participates in research projects aimed at improving the personalization of therapeutic strategies.
Her research has contributed to the understanding of genetic factors involved in skin carcinogenesis, particularly the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) gene, as well as the molecular and clinical mechanisms underlying skin aging. She coordinates research projects focused on photoaging biomarkers and the applications of advanced imaging techniques. She is the author of more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific publications and collaborates with several national and international research groups.
She is actively involved in editorial activities for international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. She serves as Associate Editor of the International Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Junior Editor of the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV), and Section Editor of Dermatology Practical & Conceptual.
Professor Guida is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Dermoscopy Society (IDS) and a Board Member of the Italian Society of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (SIDeMaST), where she coordinates the Corrective and Aesthetic Dermatology Group and the Society’s relations with the IMCAS World Congress. She also leads the International Dermoscopy Society Working Group on Magnified Dermoscopy and is a member of several international task forces in the fields of skin imaging and teledermatology.
