Biography

Edoardo Gioele Spinelli is a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTT) in Neurology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and a neurologist at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy.

He obtained his MD, Neurology residency, and PhD in Molecular Medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. During his training, he was a visiting researcher at the Memory and Aging Center, University of California, San Francisco.

His research program focuses on neurodegenerative disorders, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal dementia, and Alzheimer's disease, using multimodal approaches that integrate advanced neuroimaging, brain connectomics, fluid biomarkers, and detailed clinical phenotyping. His work aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying selective regional vulnerability and the spread of neurodegeneration, as well as to develop diagnostic, prognostic, and disease-monitoring biomarkers. He is also involved in clinical programs focused on the implementation and evaluation of emerging disease-modifying therapies for Alzheimer's disease.

He serves as reviewer and editor for several international neuroscience journals and is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. His current Scopus H-index is 27 (as of June 23, 2026).
