Course on Aortic and Mitral Transcatheter Interventions
Learning Objectives
The Course is designed to provide cardiologists and cardiac surgeons with a comprehensive combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training, offering an overview of current European Society of Cardiology and European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery recommendations on transcatheter treatment of aortic and mitral valve disease and their application in clinical practice.
The Course focuses on the management of valvular heart disease, with particular emphasis on key transcatheter procedures, including TAVI and transcatheter mitral valve repair (M-TEER). Special attention is given to patient selection, procedural planning, and technical optimization to ensure safety and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
The Course also covers the early recognition and management of procedural complications, including device embolization, paravalvular leak, conduction disturbances, and vascular complications, with the aim of improving procedural success and patient outcomes.
A key component of the program is the hands-on workshops:
Participants will work in small groups using advanced simulators, gaining practical experience in ultrasound-guided femoral access, vascular closure techniques, and step-by-step TAVI and M-TEER procedures. Training will be integrated with CT, TTE, and TEE imaging interpretation, essential for planning and guiding structural interventions.
The Course aims to provide practical, immediately applicable skills through interactive learning and direct engagement with expert faculty.

The Course will be held on 29 and 30 April 2026.
The Course includes plenary lectures organized into six main modules, each incorporating case studies and workshops to encourage interaction between faculty and participants and to promote practical application of the content.
The theoretical and practical activities will be delivered on campus.
