Teaching Approach

The course will have a strongly multidisciplinary approach with both practical and theoretical learning, and a teaching team from different backgrounds (academic, institutional and corporate).

Classroom lessons will be interactive to encourage not just learning but also the exchange of professional experience and know-how.

The course will be divided into interconnected modules, to enable participants to acquire all the relevant areas of knowledge.

The final exam will assess achievement of the course's objectives.

Course objectives

Working in the area of public and private security implies having and being able to use knowledge in a wide variety of highly complex areas. This includes knowledge of the law, psychology and criminology as well as operating techniques. The course therefore aims to provide participants with these skills.

Contents

The course is subdivided into modules covering the topics of the greatest relevance. Several teachers will alternate within each module, and plenty of space will be given to experiential contents, also through the use of case studies and inputs from sector experts.

  3. Interactions between public and private security
  4. Analysis of crime phenomena and applied criminology
  5. Foundations of psychology and mental illness
  6. The operating tools of security
  7. Data and IT security
  8. Relevant legal and regulatory framework
  9. Security and Privacy

Attendance and enrolment procedure

Start of course: FEBRUARY 2020

Duration: 120 HOURS

Locations:

Lessons will be held on one day a week (to be decided) from 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00 hrs at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University site at Ospedale San Raffaele Turro, via Stamira d’Ancona 20 – 20127 Milan.

Admission qualifications:

The Course is open to holders of a Bachelor's Degree in Law, Economics, Sociology, Psychology or Engineering. Holders of a High School qualification may also be admitted if they have proven experience in the field of public or private security.

Qualifications and CVs will be assessed by the Faculty Board.
