The Chancellor's Decree establishing a second test session reserved for non-EU candidates for admission to the Master's Degree in Biotechnology and Medical Biology for the academic year 2023-2024 is published in the box below.
- Number of places available:
12 reserved for NON-EU candidates (second admission session).
60 reserved for EU candidates. - When to sign up for the test:
NON-EU: from June 15, 2023 at noon to July 20, 2023 at noon Italian time (you may check the time HERE).
EU: from July 3, 2023 at noon to September 15, 2023 at noon. - Test date:
NON-EU: July 26, 2023.
EU: September 26, 2023. - Test location:
NON-EU: home based online test.

Admission to the Master's Degree in Biotechnology and Medical Biology is based on selection through an admission test. This test is mandatory for all candidates wishing to access the course and is organized once or twice a year.
The UniSR admission test cannot be substituted by other exams or scores and is the only means of selection.
Candidates are ranked according to the score obtained and the best performing are admitted according to the number of places available each year and to the indications specified in the relevant Call for Admission.
Every year there is a limited number of seats in the program: a quota is reserved for EU citizens and another one for Non-EU citizens.
The admission test is organized accordingly for each quota and is regulated by a specific Call for Admission (Bando di concorso), which includes information on opening and closing of registrations, fees and enrolment documents and deadlines.
UK citizens residing outside Italy are considered "NON-EU citizens residing abroad", unless otherwise noted in the future by the Italian Ministry of University and Research or the Italian Ministry of Interior.

This call is reserved for European Citizens.
The EU quota includes European citizens, non-European citizens residing in Italy, non-European citizens with EU equal status and citizens from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of San Marino and the Holy See State of Vatican City.
CALL FOR ADMISSION: The Call for admission to the MSc in Biotechnology and Medical Biology reserved for EU citizens AY 2023/2024 is published below. It includes information on opening and closing dates for admission test registration, admission test methods and content, fees and enrolment documents and deadlines.
INTRANET PROFILE: Before registering for the admission test you have to create an 'Intranet' profile by clicking on the following link https://unisr.esse3.cineca.it/Home.do and then on Menu -> Registration.
While entering your personal data please indicate your main e-mail address and check its accuracy as you will receive there your personal credentials and possible communications.
REGISTRATION FOR THE ADMISSION TEST: In order to register for the admission test, you have to click on the following link https://unisr.esse3.cineca.it/Home.do, log in with your Intranet credentials, click on Menu-> Registrar's Office-> admission test and follow the online procedure.
SELECT THE TEST SESSION AND PAYMENT: At the end of the online registration procedure you will find a link to to a portal to select the test session and pay the test fee. This portal is accessible with the same credentials of the Intranet.

This Call is reserved for non-European citizens residing abroad only.
This quota does NOT include Non-EU citizens who already reside in Italy or Non-EU citizens with dual citizenship one of which is Italian or European. It also does NOT include citizens from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of San Marino and the Holy See State of Vatican City. (Ministerial Prot. N° 7802 of March 24, 2015). The aforementioned citizens must participate in the EU competition.

SEND THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: Before registering for the admission test, all candidates with a non-Italian qualification must send via e-mail at enrolment.biotechnologyNONEU@unisr.it the following documents required for assessment of academic qualifications:
- Copy of the final Bachelor’s Degree awarded and official transcript of records with dates and grades of the exams passed
OR
Certificate of enrolment to the final year of a Bachelor’s Degree Course or equivalent course with dates and grades of the exams passed.
- If you have any, you may also submit further certifications related to the Course e.g. scientific publications and internships in laboratories in Italy or abroad not related to the thesis internship.
All documents must be in English or Italian. If the original document is not in English or Italian, you must send both copies of the original version and of the verified translation.

The admission test consists of the comprehension of a scientific article from one of the leading scientific journals in the biotechnological-biomedical field.
Understanding of the content of the article and its hypothetical and theoretical implications will be assessed by:
- The candidate's ability to define a title and write an abstract in English (scoring range: from 0 to 20);
- The answers to 2 open questions that require the candidate to write a brief hand-written essay (score for each question: from 0 to 9);
- 30 multiple-choice questions whose score will be calculated as follows:
• 2 points for each correct answer
• - 0,75 points for each incorrect or not valid answer
• 0 points for each non-given answer
The test is entirely in English, and candidates have 180 minutes to complete the test.
