Biography
Giacomo Petrarca (Terni, 1986) is Associate Professor in the disciplinary field M-FIL/01 at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, where he obtained his PhD in “Metaphysics” (2015) with a dissertation entitled Contested Judaism. Rosenzweig, Paul, and the Problem of the Law.
In 2016, he was a visiting scholar at the Bucerius Institute for Research of Contemporary German History and Society, and in 2017 he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Jewish History and Biblical Studies of the University of Haifa. He is a member of the Internationale Rosenzweig Gesellschaft and of the Società Italiana di Filosofia Teoretica.
His research interests intertwine philosophy, cultural history, Jewish thought, literature, and psychoanalysis.
Among his publications are: Nel vuoto del tempo. Rosenzweig, Hegel e lo shabbat (Jaca Book, 2015), La legge per la legge. Paolo, Spinoza, Rosenzweig (Belforte 2018), and Mosè. Dal mondo al libro (Feltrinelli, 2026). He has also edited, among other works, L’eternità del mondo in Mosè Maimonide e altri scritti (Belforte 2018) and Ebraismo e cristianesimo: un lessico filosofico (“Il Pensiero”, 2022/2).
