Abstract:
Scholars in philosophy of language, linguistics, ethics, and metaethics investigate the evaluative dimension of language from different approaches and perspectives. Several analyses have been developed in order to account for the ways in which language can express emotions and other attitudes (among the most challenging instances of loaded and/or evaluative expressions: expressives, slurs, moral terms, aesthetic predicates, and so on). The Evaluatives and Expressives Workshop aims to bring together such perspectives and promote fruitful dialogue among scholars.
