#TalentiUniSR: Maria Petrosino

Great tenacity, great enthusiasm and great heart: Maria Petrosino is one of #TalentiUniSR who has made altruism, with commitment and generosity, her reason for living. Maria graduated with honors in 2012 at the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing of our University, with a thesis entitled “The admission in neonatal intensive care as a stressful factor for parents: an observational descriptive study“. Honored with the Elisabetta Cella prize, and winner of the Santander Scholarship, she received a Master in International Health from the University of Leeds (UK). Thanks to her human and professional experience, from 2017 she is also professor of the course in Cultural Anthropology for Nursing Course at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. In her free time she is voluntary involved in the care of disabled children and young people in the Saharawi refugee camps, in Algeria, where she exploits the concepts and skills learned during the years of study.

I graduated in Nursing at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in November 2012. I then earned a Master in International Health at the Nuffield Center for International Health & Development, University of Leeds (UK). But I will surely be back to study soon

Surely that of being followed and supported in a close and constant manner by professionals in the nursing sector during all three years of the Degree Course and, subsequently, in the choice of my post-graduate university career and work

What you currently deal with

I work in a non-governmental organization that operates in about 30 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East; I deal with health, nutrition and gender projects in the context of international cooperation and humanitarian emergency. Then, since last year, I have been teaching the course in Cultural Anthropology for the second year of Nursing at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. In my free time I manage a small voluntary organization that deals with children with disabilities in the Saharawi refugee camps, in Algeria
