Dr. Caterina Conte, a researcher and clinical diabetologist at UniSR, was awarded the prestigious "Future Leaders Mentorship Program for Clinical Diabetologists" by the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD). Caterina is part of the team of the General Transplant Medicine Unit of IRCSS San Raffaele Hospital, directed by Prof. Antonio Secchi.

The EFSD Mentorship Academy has identified Dr. Conte as an excellent candidate for the Mentorship Program, by virtue of her education as a diabetologist and clinical researcher, the publications produced during her career, and the passion she has shown for research, clinical activity and teaching.

The main objective of the EFSD Mentorship Program is to identify and promote the training of the next generation of clinical diabetology leaders in Europe. Each winner will work alongside a well-known European mentor, with whom he will develop a research project to be carried out at the membership center as part of a three-year course aimed at refining his skills in three key areas of diabetes: clinical, research and communication.

Dr. Conte states:

"Receiving this recognition is an honor and a unique opportunity, because it will give me the opportunity to increase my autonomy as a researcher and clinical diabetologist working with prof. Michael Roden, director of the Institute for Clinical Diabetology - Deutsches Diabetes-Zentrum (DDZ) in Düsseldorf and an authority in the study of metabolism. I consider it a moral duty, towards the EFSD and the University to which I belong, to do my utmost to make the most of this opportunity".
