A week of cultural exchange at San Raffaele

Students from Riga Technical University as guests of honour

01 July 2024
The University

UniSR and OSR have always collaborated with international institutions to foster, encourage and support international research and teaching. This is a valuable opportunity to strengthen academic ties and promote international cooperation and cultural exchange between institutions. Bringing together the experience and knowledge developed in their fields of action allows for a synergic and dynamic vision that opens up new possibilities for academic preparation and also for future research.

Planned activities

From 1st to 5th July, together with the San Raffaele Hospital and the University of Bergamo, we will have the honour of hosting a delegation of lecturers and students from the prestigious Riga Technical University (RTU) in Latvia, divided into three groups according to their subject area: Architecture, Italian Culture and Health Technologies.

The first two groups will be hosted by the University of Bergamo, while the third will travel to UniSR as part of the Erasmus + Short-Term Mobility project. Here they will be greeted by the University governance with a welcome ceremony, followed by a tour of the Campus that will allow them to familiarise themselves with the university environment and get a close-up view of the state-of-the-art facilities and services that make UniSR a centre of excellence in the Italian educational and research landscape.

Particular attention will be devoted to visiting advanced laboratories, such as the renowned Simulation Lab, where, thanks to realistic and interactive mannequins, they will be able to experience innovative teaching techniques and methodologies, such as: simulations of rescue manoeuvres in the shock room, but also diagnostic tests, nursing and surgical procedures in the operating theatre. All this will enable them to better understand how UniSR integrates theory with practice to train highly qualified professionals.

Meetings with the University

There will be no shortage of opportunities to get to know the various University teams and teaching staff who will illustrate the courses of study and all the training opportunities that UniSR offers.

The students will also meet researchers from the main Research Centres and Institutes of the University and San Raffaele Hospital that work closely together. This will be a fundamental opportunity to get a first-hand view of the challenges and innovations in the fields of: genetics and cell biology, neuroscience and experimental neurology, gene therapy at the SR-Tiget Institute, experimental oncology, omics sciences and clinical research as a whole.

The Latvian delegation will also have the opportunity to listen to student representatives' testimonies and share experiences: a direct exchange that will foster a deeper understanding of university dynamics and of the educational approach that characterises the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

UniSR is excited to welcome Latvian colleagues and offer them a full immersion in the academic and scientific life of the Campus. An important step towards greater international integration and the development of new synergies in the field of research and education.
