The Course aims to allow young cardiac surgeons and cardiologists to improve their surgical performance by conducting simulations on absolutely state-of-the-art 3D printed cardiac models of pathological hearts by performing complex procedures, shortening their surgical training.
Who is the Course aimed at?
The Course is aimed at Medical surgeon residents or specialists in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery interested in furthering their practical training of complex procedures on cardiac models.
STRUCTURE
The unique Course combines modules of face-to-face learning and hands-on training. The main focus of the training program is on hands-on practice of complex surgical procedures on 3D printed cardiac models of pathological hearts.
Three training days are planned for 2024 in September, October and November on different topics:
1. Coronary artery surgery (participants will have the opportunity to perform two simulations of coronary artery bypass surgery on 3D printed heart models);
2. Aortic Root Surgery;
3. Mitral Valve Surgery.
The Course will be delivered in English.
The Course will be accredited ECM for health professionals.
The Course will be ECM accredited for health care professionals.
In case of participation to all 3 training days, a certificate of participation and competences achieved will be issued.
DURATION
Each day provides 8 hours of educational activities totalling 24 hours.

ENROLMENT PROCESS
Possession of requirements of Medical surgeon resident or specialist in Cardiology and/or Cardiac Surgery is ascertained through the collection of a self-certification Form submitted to applicants during pre-registration.
In case applications for admission exceed the number of available places, priority will be given to the order of enrolment.
PARTICIPATION FEE
500€ VAT included: UniSR students, OSR and Policlinico San Donato employees.
750€ VAT included: outsiders
N. 6 Educational Grants are available for the first training day.
Potential Grant recipients will be selected on a first come, first served criteria.
To obtain the Grant, the enrolment must be finalised.
