Program overview and learning goals

The Posgraduate Master Program in Endoscopic Ultrasound – Diagnostic and Therapeutic EUS aims to provide participants with valid and updated theoretical and practical preparation in the field of diagnostic and operative ultrasound endoscopy.

For several years, this method has opened new horizons in the field of digestive endoscopy, improving the exploration of the digestive tract and adjacent organs, allowing for more effective operations (biopsies of masses, drainage of collections under endoscopic guidance, biliary drainage, alcoholization of the celiac plexus).

The training program will involve the acquisition or consolidation of knowledge relating to normal and pathological topographic anatomy and ultrasound semiotics, as well as the improvement of endoscopic skills. During the course, and in particular in the context of clinical-practical coaching and training activities, which will be given ample space, the knowledge regarding diagnostic and operational ultrasound endoscopy equipment and techniques will be transmitted and consolidated; the ability to evaluate the indications of Endoscopic Ultrasound, its advantages and limitations will also be exercised and improved.

The expected educational outcome consists of:
- the acquisition of the basic notions of anatomy and ultrasound semiotics, as well as the echoendoscopic view of the digestive tract and nearby organs;
- the theoretical and practical acquisition of the techniques for performing diagnostic and operational ultrasound;
- the trasmission of the most recent updates on the indications and results of diagnostic and operative ultrasound endoscopy.
