Center for Research in Experimental and Applied Epistemology (CRESA)
The Research Center in Experimental and Applied Epistemology
The Research Center in Experimental and Applied Epistemology (CRESA) was created in 2006 at University Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan (UNISR), with the aim of promoting the connection between philosophy, cognitive science and neuroscience, through groundbreaking and multidisciplinary research and a constant interaction with the scientific and linguistic courses taught at UNISR. The main research strength of CRESA focuses on the field of experimental and applied epistemology, which combines the experimental method of science and the theoretical rigour of philosophy. Science sheds new light on traditionally philosophical issues, and sometimes it even helps to solve them. Nowadays, cognitive neuroscience is dramatically changing our conception of the mind and its functions. Cognitive neuroscience provides new data on the nature of perception, language, memory and consciousness, reasoning and decision-making, which are by now necessary for understanding production processes, distribution and application of knowledge.
