Innovating through Knowledge is the engine that drives all the actions of UniSR and guides us in creating a campus where education and research find fertile ground for constant growth, and the student is at the centre of every initiative undertaken.

This commitment is also recognized by the results of the QS World Ranking, in which the University not only gains more than 200 positions but also ranks first, among the 42 Italian universities classified, for the number of Citations per Faculty. It is a universally recognized measure of the importance and volume of research, which expresses the average number of citations obtained by the University, using the database of scientific publications Scopus.

UniSR has the highest score recorded by the Italian universities in this item, with a score (1-100) of 88.5 (17.7 weighted score, with a weight of 57.2% of the total score).

Another extraordinary result that sees UniSR still on the first step of the podium, electing it as the “best learning and teaching environment among Italian universities”, is the score recorded in Faculty Student Ratio, which expresses the teacher-student ratio. In this indicator of the quality of education, the University records 94.4 total points.

UniSR's many records in the QS World University Rankings 2025 - one of the most prestigious world rankings, with over 1,500 universities evaluated, in 106 countries around the world - confirm the winning model of Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, which has always been based on the strong integration between Teaching and Research, in the contamination of medical, psychological and philosophical knowledge. Being the first University in the world in terms of number of positions gained in the ranking, as well as the first Italian university for Citations per Faculty and Faculty-Student Ratio, sets a prestigious seal on the excellence of our Research and Teaching, which fills us with pride,

commented Enrico Gherlone, Rector of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

Methodology in QS Ranking

The QS Subject Ranking is based on indicators that measure the reputation of the universities evaluated, through complex analysis of collection and standardisation of the indicators of over 1,500 international universities in the ranking.

Among the indicators, in addition to research that includes the opinions of lecturers, academics, researchers, managers and human resources directors, there are analysis on scientific publications, citations, teachers-students ratio, scientific productivity and the level of internationalization.

All elements on which UniSR has always worked and focused its activity at national level that now prove to be rewarding also at international level.
