Quality Policy

The “primary” processes are those which relate directly to “ what is offered to students” in terms of the educational and administrative process, while the “secondary ” processes still relate to students, but are aspects concerning “ what is organised and implemented internally in support of the quality of the services offered” , and are structured as follows: the “primary” processes are designed in a modular manner, and are independent of each other, while the “secondary” processes are designed in a modular manner, but are interconnected.

For details, see

Il Sistema di Gestione Qualità quale strumento a supporto dell’attuazione delle direttive legislative Universitarie (The Quality Management System as a Support Tool for the Implementation of the University Legislative Directives).

The system can be easily viewed in a map of processes, as in the following schematic representation.

CSQ IQnet Certificate

Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, with the goal of optimising the definition of its processes, began a certification process in 2004 pursuant to the ISO 9001:2000 standard and subsequent amendments. The development of the certification projects implies approval of the quality policy and consequent goals by university management, as well as identification of the certification boundaries (areas to be certified), and involves the engagement of an external body duly authorised to issue the certifications. The assigned certification body (IMQ S.P.A.) issued certificate CSQ N. 9175.UVSR on 13 January 2006 for Management Services and the bachelor’s degree in Psychological Sciences. The attainment of this first certificate was the fruit of a long and demanding work to define and optimise the processes aimed at satisfying clients’ needs and for the excellence of the university’s teaching and services. In December 2006, a request was made to extend the certification to the Administration and Services Department, and to the Degree Course in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. As such, the certificate issued on 2 February 2007 was extended to Management Services and to the Degree Courses in Psychological Sciences and Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.

In January 2010, the university obtained renewal of the certification on the basis of the new ISO 9001:2008 standard.

From 21 December 2010, the scope of the certification was extended to: Planning and administration of teaching activities for degree programmes and master’s degrees in the Faculties of Medicine and Surgery, of Psychology and of Philosophy. Management Services.

From 6 March 2013, the scope of the certification was further extended to: Planning and administration of teaching activities for degree programmes and master’s degrees, specialisation schools, professional master’s programmes. Management Services. From 13 January 2014, the scope of the certification was redefined and extended to: Self evaluation process, periodic evaluation, accreditation Degree courses, master’s degrees, specialisation schools and professional master’s programmes, management services. This latter extension meant Vita-Salute San Raffaele University was the first university to attain certification for the management procedures of the self-evaluation, periodic evaluation and accreditation processes, as set out in the ministerial regulations and the directives of the ANVUR.
