Ten projects have been funded worldwide by the AXA Research Fund, as part of the extraordinary call " Mitigating risk in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic" for research on Covid-19.
The only Italian project is the one presented by the consortium formed by the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, Bocconi University, the University of Insubria and the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, by the National Health System and coordinated by the University of Genoa.
In the next 18 months, the objective of the project will be to analyze the impact that the containment measures adopted during the Covid-19 emergency, the so-called lockdown, had on the mental and social well-being of the Italian population, with particular reference to the elderly and to vulnerable subjects.
A multidisciplinary team of experts with clinical, epidemiological and economic skills that will collaborate in the analysis of large databases in order to quantify the direct and indirect effects that the Covid-19 pandemic has had and will have on lifestyles, behavioral risk factors and mental health of the categories most at risk.
