#TalentiUniSR: Benedetta di Robilant

A scientist and entrepreneur fully trained at the San Raffaele University: #TalentiUniSR could not miss Benedetta di Robilant, Alumna who attended the course in Biotechnology at our University. After a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology, she received her PhD at the International PhD Course in Molecular Medicine, curriculum in Basic and Applied Immunology. Since 2018 she is the co-founder of Dorian Therapeutics, a company based in Silicon Valley focused on treating age-related diseases and improving cellular therapies. Recently, together with her colleague Maddalena Adorno, she has been featured among the protagonists of the virtual round table “Italy on the move 2021” during the 39th edition of the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco, the most important international event for innovation in the medical, pharmaceutical, biotech fields, involving over 400 companies from all over the world. About San Raffaele University she recalls in particular “the quality of its Professors, true professionals in their field, up-to-date and passionate about their subject, and the access to hands-on studies that allowed me to understand how to test a scientific hypothesis”.

Your university pathway

I earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Medical Biotechnology and a PhD in Basic and Applied Immunology at the San Raffale University. During my PhD I had the honor of working with Dr. Attilio Bondanza and Dr. Monica Casucci in a project that led to the development of a new cellular product (CAR-T) specific to an antigen, called CD44v6, expressed by multiple tumors. After my PhD, I moved to the United States to pursue a PostDoc at Stanford University, where I specialized in tissue regeneration and the relationship between stem cells and aging

Why did you choose the San Raffaele University

The course in Biotechnology had only been open for a few years at the time but I was impressed by the quality of its Professors, all doctors and/or researchers at the adjacent Hospital. The proximity to the Hospital also gave a tangible strength and purpose to the program

I am co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Dorian Therapeutics, a company in Silicon Valley (California) that focuses on treating age-related diseases and improving cellular therapies
