“Creating interesting Health Stories,” “Fake news in Health Communication”, but also “Patients and Communication Strategies.” These are just some of the interesting discussion topics that will be addressed during the International Congress on Health Communication. The event takes place on October 24th and 25th in Barcelona, at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital Campus, and is organized by the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, with the support of the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA), the Alliance of leading European university hospitals, of which IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele currently holds the Presidency.

The objective of the Congress is to bring together global experts to discuss the latest innovations and challenges in health communication, providing professionals with the tools they need to improve the effectiveness of their communication strategies.

Alongside the two institutional goals of Teaching and Research, UniSR pursues the Third Mission/Social Impact with the aim of fostering the enhancement and transmission of knowledge for the social, cultural and economic development of Society. In its transversal ability to mobilize and connect different souls and actors, the Third Mission/Social Impact represents an opportunity both for the territory and society and for the University and its stakeholders. UniSR participation

The Congress program is rich in thematic sessions, hands-on workshops and numerous networking opportunities. Key topics will include government health policies, the role of media in health care, creating engaging narratives, managing fake news, using artificial intelligence in communication, managing communication crises, and the importance of patient involvement in information dissemination.

Numerous keynote speakers will participate, including Prof. Carlo Martini, Associate Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. At UniSR, Prof. Martini leads a research team that, using tools from social epistemology and experimental social sciences, studies disinformation in the media: he will speak about it during Topic 4, “Fake news in Health Communication”.

Topic 9 entitled “What do journalists seek from doctors/researchers from large Health Institutions?” will be moderated by Karin Fischer, Director of Marketing and Communications at UniSR. The dialogue between scientists and journalists will bring out distinct but complementary perspectives and needs of two categories that depend on each other.

More information about the two-day program is available here: International Congress on Health Communication.
