UniSR is among the universities that have hosted UniVax Day 2024

Also this year UniSR hosted "UniVax Day, a day of training and awareness on the topic of vaccines" dedicated to secondary school students, now in its eighth edition, organised and promoted by the Italian Society of Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA) in agreement with various Italian universities.

UniVax Day aims to be a real "vaccination" of new generations against the epidemic of false news that often concerns the topic of vaccines. The aim is indeed to make young people informed and aware through the meeting and the dialogue with expert teachers and researchers.

UniSR is part of a national network of over 20 universities that have joined the initiative. This year it is offered the following scientific program:

• The immune system by Dr. Mirela Kuka, Researcher and Teacher of General Pathology at UniSR
• The new frontiers of vaccines by Prof. Guido Poli, Full Professor of General Pathology at UniSR
• Vaccines between science and society by Dr. Renata Gili, Teacher of Microbiology at UniSR

An interesting and constructive round table followed, in which the students have actively participated by discussing with the speakers, asking questions through microphones or their smartphones.

The students have also contributed to filling out live a questionaire on metaphorical communication in the vaccination field, aimed at exploring what is the clearest and most effective communication method for talking about vaccinations to young people aged 11-18.

The feeling of teachers is that fundamental messages has been well received and that among the over 70 high school students who have participated there are already the scientists of tomorrow!
