Vita-Salute San Raffaele University stands out in the QS World University Rankings Europe 2026, ranking 3rd in Europe and 1st in Italy for Research (Papers per Faculty, Citations per Paper ranked 2nd in Italy), and 1st in Italy for the faculty-to-student ratio. Among 958 competing institutions from 42 European countries, UniSR places in the top 40.4% overall of ranked universities (up from 47.2%, moving from 388th to 331st place).

This result highlights the daily commitment of faculty members and researchers, recognizing the breadth and impact of their scientific output and further strengthening UniSR’s position as a high research-intensity university.

What is the QS World University Rankings Europe?

The QS World University Rankings Europe evaluates 958 institutions from 42 countries (65 from Italy) across 9 indicators, including academic and employer reputation, scientific output and research impact, faculty-to-student ratio, employment outcomes, international research networks, and sustainability. The ranking is based on 19.8 million publications and 200 million citations.

A ranking based on scientific and institutional data, as well as global surveys

The QS methodology combines the results of over 250,000 interviews across academia and the world of work with scientific output (measured by third-party sources such as Scopus) and data reflecting institutional structure (such as the number of students and faculty).

Academic quality recognized at the European level

The QS results complement the 7th place worldwide for Research Quality in the THE World University Rankings 2026, confirming a cross-disciplinary vocation for scientific excellence.
