Censis University Rankings 2026/2027: UniSR ranks first in five categories

Five first-place rankings, including three new ones, and four second-place rankings among non-state universities. 

The 2026/2027 Censis Rankings of Italian Universities place UniSR first among non-state universities in five categories: three for bachelor’s degrees and two for two-year master’s degrees. 

Compared with the previous edition, UniSR has reached the top of three additional rankings while retaining two first-place positions. These results span several areas of our academic provision and demonstrate the consistent quality of UniSR degree programmes. 

Programmes offered by the Faculty of Philosophy rank first among non-state universities for both bachelor’s and two-year master’s degrees in the Humanities. 

At bachelor’s level, UniSR has climbed two positions compared with 2025/2026, moving from third to first place. Its two-year master’s programmes retain the top position achieved in the previous edition, while the MA in Theory and History of Arts and the Image maintains its position among two-year master’s degrees in Art and Design. 

Overall, these results confirm the value of an academic offering that places philosophy at the heart of contemporary challenges: from reflection on the meaning and purpose of individual and organisational action to an understanding of social, scientific and technological change, including the decisions shaping the corporate world. This approach develops critical thinking as the ability to grasp complexity in its entirety, interpret changes affecting politics, society, science, medicine and the development of artificial intelligence, and examine their implications, responsibilities and tangible effects on everyday life.

The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery ranks first for both bachelor’s and two-year master’s degrees in the Health Sciences. 

Bachelor’s degrees have moved from second to first place, while two-year master’s degrees retain the leading position achieved in 2025/2026. Single-cycle degree programmes in Medicine and Surgery also firmly maintain second place among non-state universities. 

Significant results have also been achieved in the Sciences: the BSc in Biotechnology Research in Medicine has risen from second to first place. 

Taken together, these results recognise the strength of a diverse range of programmes, spanning the Health Professions, Medicine and biotechnology research, all underpinned by education delivered in close contact with clinical practice, laboratories, technology and research.

The Faculty of Psychology ranks second among non-state universities for both bachelor’s and two-year master’s degrees. 

The master’s programmes retain their position from the previous edition, while the bachelor’s programmes move from first to second place. 

These two rankings recognise an educational model that combines the study of cognitive, clinical and relational processes with scientific methodology, research and dialogue across different disciplines.

The Censis results form part of a broader and consistent picture that includes the recognition achieved by UniSR in the leading international university rankings. 

In the QS World University Rankings 2027, UniSR ranked sixth worldwide and first in Europe for Citations per Faculty, the indicator measuring research impact. This result is complemented by seventh place worldwide for Research Quality in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. 

Research recognised at the highest international level provides the foundation for an education capable of bringing up-to-date knowledge, advanced methods and innovative tools into university programmes. 

This is also confirmed by the AlmaLaurea Report 2026: 91.3% of UniSR graduates complete their degrees within the prescribed timeframe, while 90.2% rate their university experience positively. In terms of employment outcomes, UniSR exceeds the national average across all the indicators considered, and the employment rate among second-cycle graduates reaches 98.3% five years after graduation.
