UniSR PhD programs for the 2020/2021 a.a.: open calls

31 July 2020
Research

Calls are open for the International PhD in Molecular Medicine, the PhD in Philosophy and the PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience.

Scientific research at UniSR is highly articulated and structurally integrated with the research carried out at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, belonging to the San Donato group, which reflects its liveliness and modernity.

It is in this context that our Doctoral Courses offer research opportunities in various fields with the aim of providing students with the ability to face new and original kind of research by developing both technical skills and an intellectual approach.

UniSR PhD students also have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience at international level by achieving the double title by stipulating a Co-supervised PhD Thesis (Co-tutelle) or by obtaining the Doctor Europaeus certification.

International PhD Course in Molecular Medicine

International PhD Course in Molecular Medicine is aimed at providing excellent guidance, support and training to graduates interested in understanding the molecular processes underlying human diseases and contributing to the development of new therapies.

The PhD program operates within IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele (OSR), enabling the students to undergo their practical training in the hospital facilities (both clinical departments and research laboratories) and undertake a major research project in one of the +100 OSR research laboratories.

The PhD course is organized into five curricula that span the broader area of molecular medicine:

Cellular and Molecular Biology

Basic and Applied Immunology and Oncology

Experimental and Clinical Medicine

Gene and Cell Therapy

Neuroscience and Experimental Neurology

The International PhD Course in Molecular Medicine offers also a program called “Physician-Scientist” that allows students of the final year of a UniSR Residency Program to attend simultaneously the 1st year of the PhD Course.

PhD Course Coordinator: Prof. Carlo Tacchetti

39 places are competed (details are available on the notice) of which:

    34 scholarships

    5 positions without scholarship.

The deadline for candidates to submit their application to participate in the competition for admission to the PhD program is 31 July 2020 at 13.00.

Information on the PhD course and on how to access it is available at the links inserted.

PhD in Philosophy

Thanks to the presence of five internal and one interuniversity research centers, thanks to the environment rich in stimuli and attentive to the intersections between philosophy and research in natural and social sciences, this year the winners of the call will also have the opportunity to receive an interdisciplinary preparation of excellence.

Doctorate coordinator: prof. Massimo Reichlin

The call foresees the activation of two Curricula: Philosophical Disciplines and Philosophical Issues in an International Perspective.

Head of the Curriculum in Philosophical Disciplines: Prof. Francesco Valagussa

The curriculum in Philosophical Disciplines develops research around the main study areas studied in the Faculty of Philosophy of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

Head of the Curriculum Philosophical Issues in an International Perspective: Prof.ssa Claudia Bianchi

The second curriculum develops the same themes as the first, and therefore the four areas of ethics and philosophy of the person, philosophy of the mind and language, metaphysics and aesthetics, history of ideas, addressing particular cultural and educational attention to the international context of research.

7 places are competed, of which:

    4 free three-year scholarships

    2 three-year scholarships

    1 position without scholarship

Graduating students can apply for admission as long as they obtain their qualification by the maximum deadline of 31 October of the same year.

The deadline for the submission by candidates of the application for participation in the competition for admission to the PhD is set at 13.00 on 27 July 2020.

Information on the doctorate and on how to access it is available at the links inserted.

Doctorate in Cognitive Neuroscience

The advanced PhD course in Cognitive Neuroscience, aimed at higher education, provides the possibility for doctoral students to work not only in close contact with sector experts but also in cutting-edge laboratories and structures equipped with the most modern neurophysiological and neuro-imaging methods. It also makes use of synergies with international networks and the experience of teachers from foreign universities with high-level specialist training.

The PhD aims to recruit and train young master graduates from different educational paths (psychologists, but also biologists, biotechnologists, doctors and philosophers) in order to train professionals with a solid background of knowledge and skills.

PhD Course Coordinator: Prof. Daniela Perani.

5 places are competed, of which:

    4 scholarships

    1 position without scholarship

The deadline for the submission by candidates of the application for participation in the competition for admission to the Doctorate on 24 August 2020 at 13.00.

Information on the doctorate and on how to access it is available at the links inserted.
