Program overview

The Postgraduate Master Program in "ERCP - Endoscopic Operative Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography" aims to provide participants with valid and updated theoretical and practical preparation in the diagnosis and endoscopic therapy of benign and malignant pathologies of the biliary tract and pancreas.
The expected educational outcome consists of:
- in the acquisition of the radiological anatomy, normal and pathological, of the bile ducts and the pancreas;
- in the theoretical and practical acquisition of ERCP execution techniques;
- in the updated acquisition of the indications and results of the ERCP.

The course aims to teach ERCP, an almost exclusively operational endoscopic/radiological method which has the aim of restoring the outflow of bile or pancreatic secretion into the duodenal lumen, through the removal of stones, the closure of fistulas, the dilation of inflammatory or neoplastic strictures of the bile ducts, pancreatic ducts or papilla of Vater.
During the course, the participant will be able to take note of how ERCP is now increasingly performed in the same session as ultrasound, a method that guides its indication and which, in turn, can facilitate or replace ERCP in case of failure.
The course aims to provide participants with adequate knowledge regarding ERCP devices and techniques, as well as the ability to evaluate indications and know their results and complications. Ample space will be given to practical activity through sessions in the radiology-endoscopic room. The objective of the course is to make the student who has never practiced this procedure autonomous in the execution of the ERCP or to improve the management and advanced execution technique for those who have already practiced it.
