Professor Andrea Tagliapietra, Professor of History of Philosophy at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan and Vice President of the Italian Society of the History of Philosophy, will fly to the United States, at Harvard, to present his latest book, "I cani del tempo. Filosofia e icone della pazienza" (Donzelli, 2022).

At the american University, Professor Tagliapietra will also be interviewed at the Harvard Media Production Center, which will subsequently be made available online.

The Professor says:

"I’m obviously happy with the invitation, which honors me, but above all I'm very curious. It will be interesting to see how this renowned institution works, not only for its undisputed academic prestige, but because it has now entered the collective imagination in films and even in TV shows."

The presentation will be held on Monday, April 24th, 2023, as part of the review "Ten new books about Italy presented by their authors at Harvard" scheduled from February 6 to May 1.

This event aims to present the most significant studies in literature, philosophy, art and architecture, music, history, politics, and social sciences related to Italian studies published in the previous year.
The books and speakers, therefore, concern Italian culture both as an object and as a subject.
Many of the invited guests come from international institutions, especially American universities such as - Yale, Oregon, John Hopkins – or Canadian ones, but there is obviously an important presence of Italian scholars.

"There seems to be a great attention to Italian culture, rightly considered important, not only for its great past, but for the ability to generate creativity projected on the future. This is in fact the fundamental inspiration that animates our young Master’s Degree program in Theory and History of the Arts and Image."

The ever-increasing interest in our culture thus becomes a means of opening up to new creative and study paths. As Francesco Erspamer, the head of the Italian Faculty at Harvard, suggests:

"It is time to mourn the loss of unity and the eternity of knowledge. It is time to stop using science to define culture by analogy or difference. It is time to discover that the time of culture is not the past and that having culture does not mean defending what we are or even assimilating what we are not: it means opening up to indeterminacy, to variety, to the pleasure of changing - not being different but becoming so".
