Dr. Maurizio Taramasso, graduated in 2008 in Medicine and Surgery at our University, is the most promising young interventional cardiologist in the world. The doctor, who now lives and works in Zurich, received the “Thomas J. Linnemeier Spirit of Interventional Cardiology Young Investigator Award” in Denver (Colorado, USA), which is awarded each year during the most important interventional cardiology conference in the world, the TCT (“Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics“). This is an important acknowledgment given to the worthiest young interventionist cardiologist (under 40) based on clinical (number and types of interventions), scientific (publications) and academic criteria (titles).
Dr. Taramasso comments: “The award has been given for the first time to a cardiac surgeon, and this is an element of great pride for me. Certainly, the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University has given me the training bases and created the conditions that led me to receive the Award, having allowed me to meet my mentor, Prof. Francesco Maisano, who has worked for many years at San Raffaele, who I decided to follow in Zurich, and to whom I owe everything from a professional point of view. Other key-people I had the chance and the fortune to work with, thanks to my University, are Prof. Ottavio Alfieri and Prof. Antonio Colombo, who both had a decisive role in my training and my path“.
