International PhD Course in Molecular Medicine
Positions and Funding
The number of available positions is always indicated in the Call for the Application and on the web site in the section “Available Position”.
Full-time financial support is provided for every student we admit.
The fellowship is subject to the INPS [Italian Social Security] separate management contribution, according to the regulations in force and the yearly amount is:
- € 18,000.00, for thre-years fellowships;
- € 22.176,00 for PhS fellowship. Students awarded these positions will receive the PhD fellowship starting from the second year of enrollment as, according to the regulations of the first year of joint attendance, the student can only receive the Residency Program’s fellowship.
The maintenance of the status of PhD Student and the renewal of the doctoral fellowship depend on the positive result of an annual examination of the scientific progress.
The PhD students who win positions without fellowship are funded by the host laboratory with an amount not less than € 16,243 gross per year. The contract methods will be defined directly with the DoS before enrollment.
Annual research expenses (bench costs) are covered by the hosting laboratories.
Each year all students, excluded any period of extension, receive additional funds (1800 euros/year) to support participation to meetings and workshops. For PhS students, this budget (2.176 euros/year) is guaranteed only for the second and third year.
Budget not used within the legal duration of the Course may not be used during the possible period of extension or in the time between the end of the legal duration of the Course and the achievement of the title.
International collaborations are encouraged; PhD students awarded with a three-yeas fellowship who spend a research period abroad will have their fellowship increased by 50% for a maximum of 12 months. PhD students awarded with a two-year fellowship (PhS fellowships) who spend a research period abroad will have their fellowship increased by 50% for a maximum of 8 months.
As for PhD students without fellowship, the amount is based on the duration of the research period and on the Curriculum. The grant must be used as a refund for travel expenses.
